Frequently Asked Questions

How long are the massage sessions?
This question comes to mind because a growing number of massage establishments follow a “50-minute-hour” philosophy. We do not. When you schedule a service that is time-specific, such as a “1 hour massage” you will be on the massage table receiving treatment for one full hour. The time it takes for you to consult with your therapist, undress & dress again is time in addition to your treatment time. This is true of all our time-specific therapies, presuming that you will have arrived for your appointment on time (or within a time-frame that we can still accommodate you for your full treatment time).

Should I undress completely for my massage session?
Your comfort level is the priority. That being said please keep in mind that proper draping (cover with a top sheet) techniques are used at all times. Some people choose to be entirely unclothed during their massage treatment, while others choose to keep certain clothing on.

Am I expected to tip?
Tips are never expected, but if you feel that you have received exceptional service & would like to express that by adding a gratuity, they are always appreciated.

Can I personally refer someone?
We are grateful for your referrals and promise to treat your your friends, family and colleagues with the greatest care and attention. When you refer someone to our center you will each receive a $10 discount on any service of $65 or more. Thank you.

Do you accept insurance?
It is the decision of insurance companies to not accept billing from Licensed Massage Therapists in the state of Florida. If your physician bills and is reimbursed for massage, this may be a question we can discuss in greater detail.

Do you have a sliding fee scale?
In specific cases we may consider adjusting certain fees. This would be made on a case by case basis, and would need to meet specific guidelines including but not limited to medical necessity and income.

Do you offer house-calls?
We do provide massage in your home or office for established clients. There will be an additional charge for this service plus a required 20% gratuity for the therapist providing massage on location. Note that not all services are available for on location sessions.

What exactly are the specific therapies and techniques you offer?
Good question. Here are some more specific explanations.

Sport Specific Massage is a specialized application of Therapeutic Massage that provides specific treatment to the muscles and muscle groups that are used  in a particular athletic activity. Certain muscles used in athletic activities tend to be over-used, others compensate in an effort to assist muscles, while other muscle groups are under-used creating an imbalance in the muskuloskeletal system. Over the years we have developed the skill and experience to effectively treat weekend warriors, recreational athletes as well as professional athletes.

Neuromuscular Therapy is a  specialized manual therapy that deals with the soft tissues of the body (“muscular”) along with the relationship with the nervous system (“neuro”) . NMT increases intramuscular circulation, and addresses trigger points by finding and relieving these highly irritated points, which cause localized as well as referred pain in the body.

Myofascial Release
Fascia is a thin, tough, elastic type of connective tissue that wraps most structures within the human body, including muscle. Fascia supports and protects these structures. Myofascial Release is a soft tissue therapy for the treatment of immobility and pain. This therapy aims to relax contracted muscles, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, and stimulate the stretch reflex in muscles which results in more flexible, resilient tissues.

SomatoEmotional Release (SER) is a therapeutic process that uses and expands on the principles of CranioSacral Therapy to help rid the mind and body of the residual effects of various unresolved traumas.

How do I know what treatments are right for me?
Call us and talk it over!  We will be happy to chat with you over the phone to find out what your needs are, suggest treatment options and answer your questions as best as we can.

We do have some important policies to keep in mind. They have been created with the intent to keep things running smoothly.

First and foremost we promise to provide the very best treatment that we are qualified and licensed to provide. In keeping with that we will not diagnose any condition or prescribe medications, supplements, etc. Information provided by your therapist, thebodymosaic.com, body mosaic social media, classes, literature or any other presentation is for educational purposes only. Services and information that we provide are not intended to take the place of medical care provided by your chosen health care provider. Also as part of our licensure we adhere to draping procedures outlined by the state of Florida at all times.

We do our very best to honor your scheduled appointment time, and we ask that you do the same. Unexpected circumstances arise, and we understand that. We do ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you do need to reschedule or cancel your appointment. If your circumstances are emergency in nature, we ask that you contact us as soon as you know that you will not be able to keep your appointment. (If you do not contact us at all and do not come in for your scheduled appointment we may require you to pay in advance before scheduling your next treatment. If this has occurred on more that one occasion, we may ask that you pay for the appointment that you missed. If this does come to pass we ask for your understanding that preparations were made for you which may have included paying your therapist for her time, or denying another person treatment in order to keep the appointment reserved for you.)

Inappropriate, unprofessional conduct (whether sexual in nature, disruptive, or otherwise not in keeping with the professional, therapeutic atmosphere of Body Mosaic) will not be tolerated. If your therapist determines your conduct is inappropriate, your session will end immediately and you will be required to pay in full for the service you scheduled.
